Cause:
Hardness is the most common of all water problems. Hardness is the presence of minerals consisting primarily of Calcium (limestone) and Magnesium (salts) resulting from your water passing through rock formations. Hardness may be present in both private wells and municipal water supplies and is generally expressed in 'grains per gallon'(gpg).
Symptoms:
- White spotting on glass surfaces, windows & fixtures
- Scale deposits in plumbing, water heaters and appliances
- Scum around basins and tubs
- Prevents soap from lathering
- Discolored, faded laundry
- Dry skin and hair
Hard water requires constant cleaning and is damaging to plumbing and appliances.
