Silica
Cause:

Silica is a mineral frequently found in ground water wells in Oregon & Washington. It is a hard, colloidal mineral, smaller and lighter than water molecules. It is harmless in drinking water but causes damaging, irreversible filming and etching of glass and tile. Silica filming is often mistaken for calcium spotting but Silica cannot be removed by cleaning as hard water spotting can. Damage from silica is permanent.

Symptoms:
  • Filming of glasses or glass surfaces that cannot be removed
  • Etching of glasses or glass surfaces
Solution:

Unfortunately, due to its colloidal nature, Silica may only be removed through Reverse Osmosis Filtration, which requires whole home system design and installation.

We have installed several Whole Home Reverse Osmosis systems and offer complete Silica analysis along with system design and estimates at no cost. If you suspect Silica is a problem in your water, contact us for a removal estimate or tips on minimizing silica caused damage.

We provide on-site anaylsis of Silica.
